It has been way too long since our last posting. Changes in life are all ups and downs, but still we do not find the energy to place a little post to share with all. A new year's resolution, I suppose.
Julius and I are now 5 months pregnant and counting! Evelyn Lucile Patton will be expected to join our family around May 15, 2010. I truly hope it is before or after the 10th, our anniversary. Perhaps, the 11th will be the day, eh Jeffrey? Our family has a long tradition of sharing birthdays, and if Evelyn shows up on Julius' brother's then we will easily tie the two families together! There...that's a plan!
Julius is right at this moment driving our moving truck to San Antonio to another storage unit, and that begins our next great adventure. We made the tough decision to leave his family and my job in Tulsa to try our futures back in Texas. As most of you know, Julius was unable to so much as even schedule an interview for a job (any job) in this area since July. We were so confident that he could find a short-term retail position somewhere while we figured out what he was to do next, but God seems to have shut that door completely.
When the opportunity to move out of our apartment and into Mom and Dad's RV arose, we felt relief from major stress. After all, we had not been making our bills each month, even with my increased school-year income. We have been so blessed with family support, both financially and with advice, and we praise our Lord for it!
We would like to ask for your prayers at this time, too. Thanks to a message delivered through Uncle Jay, we have learned what we were missing when we spoke with God. Julius has never been able to determine specifically what he wants to do, career-wise; he has only known that he has a passion for helping others and seeing improvement result from his efforts. We are asking that God provides him the answer with what He intends for Julius in His service. Our current plan is for Julius to begin his own handyman/renovation business in the area of San Antonio. He will be his own boss and can work with his hands to create and rejuvenate, until he knows his purpose.
For myself, I have always wanted to be a teacher (of older kids). My Master's degree should help me qualify for junior/community college level teaching, so that is my prayer for a career. And, of course, we are praying for a healthy baby and a solid place to bring her home to when the time comes. Being homeless is tough. :)
